Host your own brunch event this summer!

Dress / Shoes

Soooo excited to share this with you!! Last week, Michelle and I hosted a blogger brunch for the first time here in Ottawa – and it turned out SO great!!! We were talking about doing this for a few weeks now, since there isn’t really a big blogging community in Canada’s capital, and decided it would be such a fun idea to meet up with a few similar style bloggers and get to know each other! That is seriously one of the best thing about this job, since it really allows us to support one another – and there’s nothing better than women supporting other women am I right?

So, we talked with the owners of the sweetest macaron shop Quelque Chose, and they were kind enough to let us use their rooftop patio for the event! Since it is summer and the weather can be crazy hot, we decided on only getting finger food and milkshakes (which have macaron crumbs all over them and are so delicious you can’t have only one). I personally love anything with lemon, so made sure we had tons of lemon/poppy seed macarons and tartelettes, but make sure when you host your own event to have something for everyone so include more savory things like prosciutto sandwiches and salmon croissants.

We enlisted the help of Carla at Capital Florist, and told her we were thinking of pastel colors, light and romantic vibes. She ran with it and created the prettiest bouquets ever!! I can’t even put into words how gorgeous these were, and Michelle and I had to fight each other at the end of the day as to who could bring them home (FYI she got the 2 big and I got the 3 small)!

I’d say the most important thing when hosting your event is to have fun – major revelation right?
A bunch of things didn’t go right for us, we spent all that morning working on a photobooth to bring, only to realize it didn’t fit in the car! I hit myself in the head with an iron bar and had a major headache all day. It got slightly windy and I am pretty sure my dress flew up higher than I care to admit more than once. Some girls didn’t show up last minute. Etc etc etc… But guess what: none of that matters! Make sure you focus on who is there and what is happening, and remember to laugh and enjoy (and take photos)!

Oh, and think of the little details! That pink tray holding the milkshakes was such a hit, the flower wall (even tho it doesn’t look like it much because of the wind) was so sweet and perfect for photos, and those table clothes brought an airy vibe to the table setting (even tho these are actually curtains) 🙂

Thank you SO much to Quelque Chose and Capital Florist for helping us make this afternoon such a fun and blogger-approved event!
