Marie’s Bazaar turns 3: 5 milestones + giveaway!

Hi friends! I am having a hard time believing what I am writing, but today Marie’s Bazaar turns 3 years old!!! Where has the time gone?! It feels like yesterday when I thought about starting a blog but was sure no one would ever know about it. And now here I am, blogging full-time with all you guys supporting me, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Keep reading or fast forward to the end of the post for a surprise!

Ok, so I wanted to do something a bit different with this post instead of just talking about my outfit (which FYI is SUPER similar to the one I wore for my first blog-iversary 2 years ago, check it out here!).
First I thought I’d answer some of the most asked questions I get on a regular basis, but I changed my mind! Ha. I actually want to take you through the biggest milestones that happened during this third year of blogging 🙂 Here ya go:

  1. This year was the first full year of being a full-time blogger. I went full-time in October 2016, so just over a year ago. I still CANNOT believe I get to do this every day, that I get to wake up in the morning and actually be excited about the day ahead. Working for yourself can be very scary (for example: you can’t always count on a steady paycheque coming in like you would with a contract at a firm), but I’ve always been a confident person and knew this was what I wanted to do – so I went for it! There hasn’t been a day since when I regretted my decision, or thought I would be happier living a different life. All this thanks to you and your little clicks on here! 🙂
  2. My third year of blogging is also the year I met my best blogger friends! Up until last year, I didn’t really get to meet people I clicked with (no pun intended), but I’ve been so blessed to cross path with several women who have the same passion I do and with whom I immediately connected. In most “regular” jobs, you have coworkers to interact with (and hopefully become friends with), but when you work from home it can be harder to meet people. So I consider myself very fortunate to be able to hold these new women in my life close to my heart and do this blogging business with! Fun fact: we all met through social media! Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone on there, you never know what can come out of it.
  3. One of the biggest milestones Marie’s Bazaar reached this year was hitting the 50 thousand follower mark on Instagram! Fifty thousand! I cannot wrap my head around it yet, and although I know that in the blogging world this might be considered a “small” number, for me it definitely is HUGE. I always get asked if I worry to post for so many people to see, and my answer is no! I love posting and being in contact with all of the people who support me. I feel like this is a community, and I am so grateful for the love I get from each and everyone!
  4. This year I really tried to be more “me” in front of the camera. I think it is so important for people to be able to relate to you, and without saying that beautifully curated photos/blogs/feeds aren’t amazing (because they are!), I really wanted to be more authentic to myself. I am pretty low maintenance, there are days when I won’t even run a brush through my hair let alone put some makeup on. It was important for me to try and share that part with my audience, so I decided on not editing my photos. 99.9% of the photos I post have not been retouched (except for the light). I also try to post more “real” photos, meaning being caught in the act when I am laughing, or when I am not posing as much. Some of them might not be the clearest, the colors might not be the brightest, and the backgrounds might not be the prettiest, but I want it that way. I want it to be a reflection of me, because trust me I am nowhere close to being perfect so why should my photos be?!
  5. The Coffee Date blog posts also started this year! That was a big goal of mine, to be more open about personal subjects – and although I didn’t really stick to my plan of doing one of these posts per month I did my best to talk about topics that meant a lot to me. It is hard to open your heart to people you’ve never met in person before, but the feeling of clicking “publish” on a post that took me hours to write and that forced me to really think about my own thoughts and ideas is pretty great! And what makes it worth more than anything else is the reactions and comments I always get from all of you. Hearing about your lives, your experiences and how you’ve dealt with similar situations is better than any kind of therapy!

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for allowing me to do what I love, THANK YOU for supporting me, and THANK YOU for making me feel like my voice is being heard! I love you.

PS: my jumpsuit sold out in a few days #sadface but I found a lot of super similar ones for roughly the same budget so you should be good. And this gorgeous wreath is 40% off right now! It really looks stunning in person and it lights up! 🙂

Now for the fun part! I am GIVING AWAY a bunch of my personal favorite beauty products to one winner! The box will contain makeup, skincare and hair styling goodies by Smashbox, Pop Beauty, It Cosmetics, Garnier, Trufora, Honest Co., Pantene,… All you have to do is subscribe to my blog’s newsletter (you can do that when checking the right hand-side of the blog) and coming to tell me you’ve entered on the photo I’ve posted on Instagram (same outfit as here). You can get an extra entry if you leave a comment below telling me what you’d like to see more of on the blog. That’s it! I’ll announce the winner on Monday at 9pm EST. Good luck! 🙂
