My modern take on the traditional date night look

Following up with yesterday’s day date outfit ideas: date night! I feel that was as predictable as if I said “following Monday: Tuesday!” (:
Honestly though, when I think of date nights I think a LBD, red lips, high heels, and a cute clutch. I feel that’s the “traditional” outfit every girl throws on when heading out for the night. The number of times I reached out for my little black dresses cannot be counted on my fingers and toes, and I still do today especially when I feel like everything else in my wardrobe is against me.

This isn’t one of those times! I actually wore this outfit when speaking at a blogging event in Toronto last week, and got so many compliments I knew I would want to share it with all of you guys.
First of all, let me say that I have received a lot of comments from Toronto girls who were not able to make it to the event, and I want to say that I will be coming back soon and would LOVE to host a meet up so we could all chat (about life and blogging) over coffee or something like that! So if you are in the city please let me know if that is something you’d like 🙂

Now for the look and why I think it is perfect for date night. It doesn’t matter if this is your first or 19th or 90th date with the guy, I personally love to wear pants. I am a big advocate for women empowerment, and think pants send a message that “you don’t need to be rescued or saved“, but instead that you are your own person, strong and confident. These pants gave me the bossbabe-vibe the moment I saw them (in case you hadn’t notice I am a huge wide leg lover, as previously shown with these white pants, these floral pants, and these cropped culottes). I find them flirty and sexy yet comfortable and easy going, if that even makes sense? Plus, they are black so we are not too far off from the little black dress! And paired with a strapless crop top (gotta show off those shoulders, girl), it is the perfect mix of skin showing and letting them wanting more!

Heels are a big yes on a date night, although these are (surprise surprise) kitten heels! It might not be to everyone’s taste and that is ok, but I have said so many times I love to wear low heels because one: they are more comfortable, two: they are less threatening, and three: they are more comfortable!

In case your outfit is a bit more neutral in colors, I usually like to add a pop with my accessories: hence the bow on my favorite patent leather bag. Recently I’ve been really into tiny details that make an outfit, and scarves are a bit hit this season (if you haven’t seen my latest IG post, I am wearing one in my hair).
